Why Cashmere?

Cashmere is one of the world’s most luxurious fabrics and comes from the neck and underbelly of the Kashmir (Capra Hircus) goat. It takes 2 to 3 goats to make just one cashmere sweater! The average cost of a cashmere sweater was around $300.00 in the early seventies, but since the Chinese cashmere boom in the last thirty years, the average cost of a 100% cashmere sweater is now around $120.00. Cashmere as a fabric is sumptuous in hand yet strong and tightly knit. It doesn't fray and retains its soft finish through repeated handlings. Cashmere can be hand-washed in cold water or dry cleaned without affecting its original plushness. It is also the only wool that doesn't itch should you decide to wear it next to your skin.
